Travel to Ayrshire - some travel planning tips

Getting to both Troon and Prestwick Airport is easy. The main A/M77 Glasgow to Stranraer (and the ferries to Northern Ireland) trunk road skirts both Prestwick and Troon on the landward side and at the A77/A78 roundabout north of the Airport –  Monkton Lodge – follow the well posted signs for Troon and as you go over the railway bridge and enter the town you can’t miss the hotel on the right hand side, right opposite the clubhouse and first tee for Troon Portland Golf Club

The M77 is easily linked to, south west of Glasgow city centre off the main M8 Edinburgh motorway which cuts through the centre of the city

Only 3 miles from the hotel, Prestwick Airport is now Scotland’s leading hub serving Ireland, London Stansted and Western Europe, courtesy of Ryanair. Car and van hire is available at the airport as well as a 24 hour taxi rank

Main rail links are to Troon station, with a half hourly service weekdays (hourly on Sundays) to/from Glasgow Central and Paisley (for Glasgow Airport)  - and to/from Ayr and Prestwick Airport
