A stunning Victorian country house hotel on the edge of Troon, close to Troon beach, and overlooking Royal Troon Golf Course, where you can have the best of some wonderful Ayrshire countryside as well as easy access to the town itself. Known as ‘the country house hotel by the sea’. Troon Beach is a long sweeping stretch of sand with a popular esplanade. It has been, and still is, a popular spot for generations of holidaymakers.
One of the most famous hotels in Troon, of long standing repute, and set in lovely landscaped grounds, Piersland House has been at the forefront of providing hospitality and hotel accommodation to Troon and Ayrshire residents and visitors alike for over 50 years. Now Piersland House Hotel, the original Piersland Lodge was built as a private residence in 1899 by the renowned Scottish architect William Leiper, and the home for Sir Alexander Walker, grandson of Johnnie Walker, founder of the internationaly famous Scotch whisky firm, Johnnie Walker. Sir Alexander was Managing Director of Johnnie Walker Whisky and created Johnnie Walker Red and Black labels. It remained a family home until its conversion into a hotel in 1956 but it still retains the original country house character.
The hotel’s location opposite the Royal Troon Golf Course, world renowned location of the British Open Golf Championship makes it a firm favourite for Ayrshire golf breaks, and golf groups and societies visiting the famous golf links of Troon and Ayrshire.
The hotel’s extensive terrace is wonderful for alfresco eating during the summer and the hotel is also a wonderful Troon and Ayrshire wedding venue.
Prestwick International Airport is 3 miles away. The Troon Ferry terminal, running the daily service from Scotland to Ireland (Larne) is virtually on the doorstep. Some 17 miles away is the Ardrossan to Brodick (Arran) ferry terminal. Ayr racecourse, Scotland’s only Grade 1 racecourse, and home of the Ayr Gold Cup and the Scottish Grand national is only 5 miles, and the whole of celebrated ‘Ayrshire and Burns Country’ is at your disposal.
